If only you did not set Joma Sison free and crushed the NPA completely.

If only you did not distribute key industries to your crony families and instead opened the economy to the free market.

If only you did not neglect our military capabilities.

If only you did not abandon the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant and made it as the starting point for reducing energy costs.

If only you actually cared about us more than you cared about staying in power.

If only you delivered your promises of change instead of fermenting the whole nation with one incompetence after another for the last 3 decades,

We won't be here talking about this.

Mainstream media with all the niceties and pompous words blame the disregard for history as the main suspect for the coming Marcos presidency. Funny thing is, the mark was all completely missed. I don't know if it's because behind them are the powers so out of touch with reality that they fail to hit the obvious... I just don't know.

You see, it's not exactly Lee Kuan Yew who replaced Marcos Sr... Marcos Sr was freakin' replaced by a freakin' housewife who doesn't know a thing or two about governance and was probably a puppet of those surrounding her. After that, things just went further downhill.

Speaking of Lee Kuan Yew, have you ever heard of a Singaporean who says they long for the days when they were still part of Malaysia? That things were so better back then when they were still Malaysians? No, you haven't. None of us have. In fact, it's the other way around. It is the Malaysians who want to go to the small nation of Singapore because opportunities and life in general are better there.

In terms of The Philippines, on the other hand, if the Aquinos and all their allies delivered a performance comparable to Lee Kuan Yew's as they rebuilt our nation, then none of us will ever think of placing another Marcos in Malacañang. They can make Marcos look more evil than Satan himself and no one would complain because everybody has a good paying job and can afford raising a family. However, that's just wishful thinking, because the reality is that our nation has been burdened with incompetent leaders ever since Marcos stepped down.

Truth is, people in general people do not decide on who to vote for after reading dozens of history books and research papers. History and other data sources are of vital importance, sure, but let us be honest and admit that most dislike reading. Most people vote based on what affects them directly and what affected them directly is the poverty that they had to endure after the Yellows abandoned their promises of change and sat comfortably on top of the food chain as the new kings and queens of The Philippines. You see, Filipinos in general may not be the most educated voters out there, but we are not masochists. After being repeatedly lied to, a time will come that the people will have enough. Hence, the chants of "iba naman" or "bagong mukha"... And that time arrived six years ago when a loud-mouthed City Mayor beat a career politician over the presidency.

After losing miserably in 2 elections (2016 and 2019), i thought it would sink in to their heads already. But i was wrong. Tumatlo na last May 9, pero mukhang di pa rin nag-sisink-in na sawa na ang Pilipino sa Yellow-magic.

So, did Filipinos purposefully forget their own history? Truth is, i do not know for some but most people would probably forget their history after suffering for 3 decades under incompetent leaders. 

Frustration with the broken promises of the Yellows-turned-Pink is what gravitated common Filipinos back towards another Marcos. Heck, even Mussolini will have a comeback if people like Biden ruled Italy for 30 years.
