YES, PHILIPPINES! Meet the first Asian winner of ‘The Voice USA’ Season 26 Sofronio Vasquez, who has captured the hearts of the world.

Vasquez, originally from Ozamiz City and now based in Utica, New York has made history after 26 seasons of the show.

The singer was formerly a contestant on It’s Showtime‘s “Tawag ng Tanghalan” contest, where he managed to reach the semifinals. 

 “Sofronio’s all-out performance is the very picture of the American Dream. In a world brimming with heartbreak, his voice paves the way for a million second chances. After his incredible journey, anything less than victory tonight at The Voice would feel like a letdown of epic proportions.” said one of the commenters in the show prior to the winner announcement. For his finale piece, Vasquez sang “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman.

Though short (4 months), my deployment was among the toughest, most challenging and most difficult. The last 45 days were among the things I would never wish for. Ukraine was my 14th country of deployment and the 24th country I traveled to.  After all the twists, turns, trials, tensions and torments, I am feeling tired.  Being a Humanitarian Worker is said to be among the Most Dangerous Jobs because of the associated risks and uncertainties aside from the daily stress & tensions.
