From Honorable to Horrible: The Tragic Fall of Lucas Bersamin
Once a man of the law, a figure entrusted with justice, Lucas Bersamin stood among the respected minds of the Supreme Court. He was given the highest honor when President Rodrigo Duterte appointed him Chief Justice, a position that carried the weight of truth and fairness. In those days, Duterte treated him with the utmost respect, never suspecting that this man, cloaked in the robes of justice, would one day become the architect of oppression and betrayal.
When Bersamin was later appointed Chairperson of the GSIS, the trust placed upon him remained unshaken. He was expected to serve the Filipino people, to uphold fairness, to protect the interests of the working class. But power is a cruel master—it tempts, it corrupts, and for some, it completely devours the soul. And so, Lucas Bersamin, once honorable, became the very embodiment of corruption, manipulation, and greed.
Today, as Executive Secretary, he is no longer a servant of justice but a puppet master of oppression, dictating Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s every move against the Filipino people. Behind the curtain of Malacañang, he orchestrates the persecution of those who stand for truth, twisting the very foundations of law to protect the corrupt elite and the oligarchs who have drained this nation dry. Where once he stood as a symbol of justice, he now bends justice to serve those in power, crushing dissent, silencing critics, and ensuring that only the wicked thrive.
Bersamin’s thirst for power and wealth has sealed his fate. History will not remember him as a great jurist but as a man who sold his soul for political survival, a shadow behind Marcos Jr., whispering commands that lead the nation deeper into tyranny. His name will not be spoken with admiration but with disgust and condemnation, a cautionary tale of how a man entrusted with honor can fall so low, consumed by his own ambition.
But the Filipino people are not blind. God has allowed us to witness this betrayal, to open our eyes to the true nature of the leaders who oppress us. This is our warning, our call to action. We must not allow evil men like Lucas Bersamin to dictate our future any longer. The time has come for decisive action, for unity, for the people to rise and put an end to their reign of corruption and suffering.
For in the end, justice is not his to manipulate—it belongs to the people, and to God. And justice will come.
