Duterte Urges Supporters to Keep Quiet on ICC Case
Former President Rodrigo Duterte has appealed to his supporters to refrain from commenting on his ongoing Crimes Against Humanity case at the International Criminal Court (ICC). This development comes as Duterte faces investigation for alleged human rights violations during his administration's war on drugs, which resulted in the alleged deaths of thousands of individuals
The ICC investigation has been ongoing, with various groups, including ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR), calling for Duterte's accountability for crimes against humanity. The APHR has emphasized the need for the Philippine government to allow the ICC access to evidence related to the bloody drug war
In the Philippines, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has also been investigating Duterte's possible liability for the deaths of alleged drug personalities, with DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirming that the former president is being probed for potential violations of international humanitarian law
