DAUGHTERTE DID IT

Vice President Sara Duterte returned from The Hague not merely as a daughter visiting her father, but as a political tactician sharpening her blade.

Behind the calm of the International Criminal Court’s reception hall, a father and daughter likely spoke not just of legal battles, but of legacy, betrayal, and power.

Rody Duterte, once the scourge of the national oligarchy, now a retired patriarch, met Inday Sara with a silence laden not with sentiment but with purpose. The rekindling of father-daughter relationship was overdue. Yet it was not nostalgia that animated the conversation. It was strategy.

For years, Sara Duterte’s political career played second fiddle to her father’s tempestuous leadership.. She maintained the cool demeanor of a reluctant heir, occasionally asserting herself but never fully assuming command. That has changed.

What transpired after those private meetings resembled a military campaign. Calibrated, ruthless, and unmistakably effective.

Inday was prepared to execute a blitzkrieg.

Days later, the political terrain had shifted. Former allies found themselves displaced, erstwhile enemies isolated. Benny Abante’s grip on his congressional district was loosened. Cebu’s governorship slipped into different hands. In Manila, Isko Moreno reemerged. In Davao, the Duterte brand held as firm as ever.

Even without a clean 12-0 sweep in the Senate, the Duterte-aligned slate proved formidable. Bong Go survives. Marcoleta becomes senator. Dela Rosa, Cayetano, Camille Villar, and Imee Marcos all stay comfortably within the vice president’s gravitational pull. This is not mere coincidence. It is consolidation.

The administration, flush with campaign funds and government machinery, found itself embarrassingly underwhelming in the final tally. It turns out, no amount of cash can replicate conviction.

Sara Duterte knew precisely when to strike.

Now, every ambitious politico recalibrates. The lesson is clear: opposing a Duterte is not just risky, it is political suicide. Even PBBM’s endorsement proved hollow. His promise of a 12-0 victory? Political bravado at best, a miscalculation at worst.

What Sara Duterte demonstrated and proved beyond doubt is that her political instincts are her own. Her will, resolute. Her strategy, formidable.

What emerged from The Hague was not only the daughter of Digong. It was the rebirth of a political sovereign.

The 2025 midterm election has one clear winner, and it definitely is Sara Zimmerman Daughterte.
