Back in her student days, Alexandra Eala often visited Lola Maria’s Eatery in Quezon City — a humble spot run by an elderly woman who would quietly let her eat even when she couldn’t pay. 

Years later, after learning the eatery was about to close, Eala tracked down Lola Maria and bought the place herself.
