Binatikos ni Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte si AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., matapos nitong ibida na ang U.S. Typhon missile system na nakapwesto sa Pilipinas ay kayang umabot hanggang China.

“Iyan na ba ngayon ang depensa natin? Nagpapasikat sa Amerika kahit malinaw na mga Pilipino ang unang mapapahamak sa galit ng ibang bansa?”

(“So, mao na diay na ron ang atong depensa? Pabida-bida sa Amerika bisan klaro kaayo nga ang Pilipino ang mahimong sunugon pirmi sa kalagot sa laing nasod?”)

Mariin niyang kinuwestiyon ang motibo ni Brawner at ang tila pagpapakita umano ng labis na pagkiling sa Amerika.

“Bago ka magyabang tungkol sa mga missile na kayang abutin ang China — kaya mo bang pigilan ang ganti nila? O handa kang isugal ang buhay ng mga Pilipino para lang ipakitang malapit ka sa iyong mga ‘amo’?”

(“Before you boast about missiles that can reach China — can you guarantee that you can stop the retaliation? Or are you willing to gamble Filipino lives para lang mapakita nga suod ka sa imong mga ‘bosses’?”)

Hindi rin pinalampas ni Pulong ang tila pagkakalimot umano ng militar sa mas malalaking problema ng bansa — partikular na ang korapsyon.

“Huwag mo kaming turuan ng pagtatanggol sa bayan kung hindi mo naman kayang ipagtanggol ang mga mamamayan laban sa mga magnanakaw na naka-uniporme at naka-amerikana.”

(“Don’t lecture us about defending the nation if you can’t even defend the people from thieves in uniform and suits.”)

Binigyang-diin din ng kongresista ang pagkakaiba ng hustisya sa Pilipinas at sa ibang bansa:

“’Yung mga heneral sa China na nahuling nangurakot — firing squad ang katapusan. Dito sa Pilipinas? Promotion at press briefing pa ang gantimpala?”

(“Kadtong mga heneral sa China nga nadakpan nangurakot — firing squad ilang ending. Dinhi sa Pilipinas? Promotion ug press briefing pa ang premyo?”)

Iginiit na kapayapaan, seguridad at soberenya ang isinisigaw ng taumbayan:

“Ang gusto namin ay kapayapaan, seguridad, at tunay na soberanya — hindi mga missile na may bakas ng ibang bansa.”

(“We want peace, security, and sovereignty — not missiles with someone else’s fingerprints.”)

On the remarks of Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. about U.S. missiles in PH reaching China

So, this is our defense now? Starring in America even though it's very obvious that the Filipino can always be burned by the hatred abroad? (So is this now our idea of defense? Showing off for America even if it’s clear that Filipinos will be the first to burn from another nation’s retaliation? )

General, before you boast about missiles that can reach China — can you guarantee that you can stop the retaliation? 

Or are you willing to gamble Filipino lives just to show that you are close to your "bosses"? (Or are you willing to gamble Filipino lives just to show how close you are to your "bosses"? )

The real question is: Who are you really serving? The Philippines or the CIA? (The real question: Who are you really serving? The Philippines or the CIA? )

Because if you're for the Filipino people, you won't be a hero in the presscon then our ordinary people will be collateral damage. (Because if you’re truly for the Filipino, you wouldn’t play hero in a press conference and make ordinary Filipinos the collateral damage. )

And while we’re on the topic of “national security,” ask ko lang: 
Do you see the real problem of the country today—
budget corruption, useless projects, and corruptions without fear? (just wanna ask: Do you know the real problem facing our country now --corruption in budget, infra projects that are useless, and plunder of the nation's coffers without fear? )

Don’t lecture us about defending the nation if you can’t even defend the people from thieves in uniform and suits.

Those generals in China caught robbing — firing squad their ending. (Chinese generals caught stealing — they end up in a firing squad. )

Here in the Philippines? Promotion and press briefing are the prizes? (Here in the Philippines? They get promotions and press briefings as reward? )

Get your priorities clear, General. (Get your priorities straight, General. )

The Filipino people do not need someone who is trigger-happy for another country,
they need a leader who will fight for them and protect their future, not offer them as targets.

Ayaw mi himoa’g bogo. (Don’t treat us like fools.)

We want peace, security, and sovereignty —
not missiles with someone else’s fingerprints.
