To understand RET. SGT. ORLY GUTEZA credibility, we must first look at his background. As a Philippine Marine, with good service record his career was rooted in the military ethos of duty, honor, and courage.
The military demands absolute fidelity and places the welfare of the country above personal safety or gain. For decades, men like Sgt. Guteza operated under a code where taking a bribe or participating in corruption is not just a crime, but a betrayal of their oath. 

When a career soldier steps forward to expose corruption in the civilian sphere, his motivation is seldom self-enrichment; it is almost always the painful realization that a deeper principle—the country's well-being—is being violated.

“NOTHING TO GAIN, EVERYTHING TO LOOSE” - This distinction is the cornerstone of his testimony’s strength. Why can we say that Sgt. Orly Guteza’s credibility is reliable?

1. LACK OF SELF-INTEREST: Unlike witnesses who turn state evidence to secure immunity, or former partners who testify out of revenge, Sgt. Guteza had no incentive of personal gain. HE DID NOT BECOME RICH FROM THE PROJECTS; HE WAS A LOYAL IMPLEMENTER OF ORDERS WHO EVENTUALLY DECIDED TO PUT HIS CONSCIENCE ABOVE HIS PROFESSIONAL COMFORT. 

2. THE SACRIFICE : 
• HE DID NOT JUST RISK HIS REPUTATION- HE RISKED THE VERY STABILITY OF HIS POST SERVICE LIFE. 

• HE FACED POTENTIAL THREATS, FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY, PROFESSIONAL RETALIATION, AND THE IMMENSE PRESSURE THAT COMES WITH CHALLENGING POWERFUL, ENTRENCHED POLITICAL INTEREST 

• HE LITERALLY HAD EVERYTHING TO LOSE AND NOTHING TO GAIN! EXCEPT THE SATISFACTION OF FULFILLING HIS MARINES OATH TO THE NATION. 

SGT. GUTEZA IS NOT A POLITICAL OPERATOR ; he is a career serviceman whose CURRENCY IS INTEGRITY. His is a story of a patriot who, having transitioned to civilian life, refused to watch the corruption of public service, especially in projects designed to protect his fellow Filipinos from disastrous floods.
