Over four intense days at the International Criminal Court, the hearings involving Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte became more than just a legal process. For many, it also felt like a test of discipline, dignity, and respect for the rule of law.

At the center of the defense was Atty. Nicholas Kaufman, whose calm and focused approach helped shape the discussion inside the courtroom. Instead of using drama or aggression, he relied on evidence, legal standards, and the need to clearly connect claims with proof. His argument showed that stories alone are not enough, the law needs solid evidence.

While the prosecution presented its case, the defense pointed out possible gaps, procedural concerns, and the importance of strong and credible proof. The judges did not show any theatrics but carefully asked questions as they examined the arguments from both sides.

Duterte remained calm and respectful, saying that his actions were meant to protect public safety and that he is willing to face the process with honor.

For his supporters, the hearing is not just a legal case but also a meaningful moment in the country’s history. In simple terms, the hearing was not about personalities but about legal standards.

The defense showed discipline and clear strategy, while the court focused on carefully reviewing the evidence. Whatever the decision may be in the next stage, the final judgment will depend on whether the evidence can meet the highest legal requirement.

At the end of the day, the law asks for proof, reason, and fairness.

I also believe that only God knows the complete truth. What I shared here is only my personal observation and understanding, and I know that my knowledge is limited. I respect that other people may have different views about the hearings. In the end, may God’s will be done.
