FILIPINO YOUTH

The Filipino youth of today are very enviable. They have so much promise, potentials, and a future like no other. Too bad they have to learn the hard way that most promises are meant to be dashed to pieces, that potentials not developed do not bear fruit, and the future is just a vision that even if seen, but not realized, remains only an illusion.

Our dreams still remain locked in captivity, until it can be set free by our willingness to take off the blinders of faith ~ a faith that keeps us occupied by merely hoping for such promises, potentials and future to come to us on their own. We waste our humanity on falsity. Our fate remains the prisoner of chance, until we can free ourselves from the lethargy of our complacence, the myopia of our dependence, and the stubborn refusal to risk our state of misery for something better ~ to firmly grasp and hold on to those promises, to work productively and fully on those potentials, so as to be able to realize the future that we want and deserve.

But if we remain blind, and let those blinded even more by their ambition, pride and greed to lead us farther into the darkness of our incapacity and unwillingness to change ~ we shall always be this way, forever caught in the twilight infinity between yesterday and tomorrow...
