"The Love Pitcher"

By Nap Torres

Porcelain carafe painted with red roses.
Sat at the table of old.
Gentle handmaid possess.
Honey dew it hold.

A man came a prince in guise.
To the maiden asked a glass of water.
Though she was surprised,
She poured a glass from the porcelain pitcher.

From the glass the prince drank.
The taste of that water is great he said.
Reached for the maiden hands and gave thank.
The handmaid was shocked but was not afraid.

Dear sir you are welcome.
Water is for everyone.
Though it was honey dew and not water your thirst was overcome.
It is just but one of my duty i had done.

Words that she had spoken touched the heart of the prince.
Though in ragged clothes the handmaid is still pretty.
The prince in guise saw in her beauty.
Feeling in love so intense.

Oh you are so lovely and so kind.
My lady will you care to marry me?
The handmaid thought in her mind,
Is this man crazy?

The handmaid though fell in love too.
To the handsome prince her heart beat fast.
So she said "yes sir i do."
She married him at last.

Bringing her porcelain pitcher.
She live in the castle with the prince.
The pitcher now just contain water.
Honey dew was consumed ever since.

The honey dew that the prince had drank.
Magic potion that fairy godmother gave.
To the handmaid her gift of thank.
Kindness the handmaid gave in thirst she was save.

This story of the love pitcher.
Is a lesson for everyone.
Kindness to other,
will bring you treasure beyond.
