FROM DAVAO OF THE PAST

Image
28 February 2025 𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗢 𝗕𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗔 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 Here is the message of former President Manuel L. Quezon to the people of Davao during the city’s inauguration on March 1, 1937. In 1937, the capital town of Davao was converted into a chartered city. Davao City was once a part of one Davao Province before it was divided into three different provinces in 1967. The formal inauguration of Davao as a city was on March 1, 1937 although its charter (referred to as the Commonwealth Act No. 51) was approved by the Philippine Assembly and signed into law by President Manuel Quezon on October 16, 1936.  Hon. Romualdo C. Quimpo, the first elected assemblyman from Davao was responsible for creating Davao into a city which was originally the old municipality of Davao combined with the municipal district of Guianga. More importantly, Historian Antonio Figueroa, in his Facebook Page, would argue that Rep. ...

THE PLUNDERER

Image
28 February 2025 By Mike Alcazaren If there is a narrative that is being shoved down our throats about EDSA, it is this: that the Marcoses did not plunder our country. That the family’s wealth came from some ridiculous myth that he discovered Yamashita’s gold. There is a well-funded propaganda machine in operation, with the candidacies of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in 2016 and Imee Marcos’ senatorial bid proof positive that the revisionist plan is firing on all cylinders, aided in part by a backsliding democracy. The Marcoses were stealing from the country since Ferdinand’s first term in 1967. That was the year Marcos first opened a Swiss bank account under the alias “William Saunders”. What other proof does the Filipino need when Imelda has already been convicted and that 170,447,347,523.52 pesos have been remitted to the Bureau of Treasury for the accounts of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program and for the Reparation of Victims of Human Rights Violations during the Martial Law regime...

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Image
25 February 2025 Tuesday  Lifted from Carlo Balacuit Maestrado  Proverbs 22:1  – “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.” From Honorable to Horrible: The Tragic Fall of Lucas Bersamin Once a man of the law, a figure entrusted with justice, Lucas Bersamin stood among the respected minds of the Supreme Court. He was given the highest honor when President Rodrigo Duterte appointed him Chief Justice, a position that carried the weight of truth and fairness. In those days, Duterte treated him with the utmost respect, never suspecting that this man, cloaked in the robes of justice, would one day become the architect of oppression and betrayal. When Bersamin was later appointed Chairperson of the GSIS, the trust placed upon him remained unshaken. He was expected to serve the Filipino people, to uphold fairness, to protect the interests of the working class. But power is a cruel master—it tempts, it corrupts, and for some, ...

"Martin Romualdez is responsible for weakening our institutions. He cannot lord over, he CANNOT CHANGE the destiny ...

FIRST FAMILY

Image

DARKEST TIMES

Image
Lifted from   IN THESE DARKEST TIMES Philippines is now in its darkest times. It's sovereignty and democracy are now under siege physically and figuratively from enemies within. Its 1986 Constitutions is now mocked, trampled and violated many times over by the very people whom we vote and entrust to protect it. The Filipinos felt helpless. They can only watched in shock on how the President Marcos Jr. in partnership with his cousin Speaker Martin Romualdez easily consolidate the Executive and Legislative Departments into co- conspirators and their partners in crime.  Malacanang and Congress were supposed to be co-equal, separate institutions that needs to play check and balance with each other to prevent concentration of power in one or few persons. This is no longer the case.  The Judiciary Department which was supposedly the third independent Institution and final arbiter of our Laws and the Constitution was easily neutralized. Through hideous schemes and blackmails, ...

As Mayor of Davao City for over two decades, Duterte transformed one of the most dangerous cities in the Philippines into one of the safest.  His strict law enforcement policies and innovative governance strategies earned him international recognition and the respect of millions of Filipinos.  His suc...

SCENARIO: THE ART OF WAR

Image
20 February 2025 🍃THE ART OF WAR The Marcos-Romualdez camp is in panic mode because no former Philippine president in history has ever acted as legal counsel in the Supreme Court..until now! 🤪 Just imagine Attorney Rody Duterte  wearing a judicial gown and personally appearing as VP Inday Sara Duterte's lawyer would be a highly unusual event, making it a major media spectacle. It could dominate headlines and his involvement would make it the biggest legal and political event in the country. The public might focus more on Duterte’s legal defense than on the merits of the impeachment case. Why? For several reasons: ✅️He has the strongest legal experience. Before entering politics, Digong was a prosecutor for many years. His courtroom skills and aggressive legal tactics will be an asset in framing the case and he knows how to navigate legal battles. He understands fully the Philippine Judiciary having appointed 12 of the 15 sitting justices. He is very familiar with their legal pers...

CORRUPTION IN A BLINK OF AN EYE

Image
By Rado Gatchalian 12 February 2025 PART 1 BAKIT KARAMIHAN NG PULITIKONG PILIPINO AY KORAP?

ON SOUTH CHINA SEA

Image
13 February 2025 Thursday  From Friday every day Behind closed doors, new US leader Donald Trump is thinking about pulling troops out of the South China Seas. . Washington is considering making an offer to remove the large number of American military forces lurking around China's coast, and in turn asking Beijing to drop the number of Chinese coast guard vessels in the area, according to a report in Bloomberg. . "Removing American military forces nearby, in exchange for fewer Beijing-owned coast guards patrolling the area is currently under proposal…" the news agency said. . . . GOOD FOR PEACE, BAD FOR BONGBONG The step would be good news for those who want peace between the two superpowers. . But it would be a huge embarrassment for pliant Philippines leader Bongbong Marcos, who the US has been using to create conflict in the waters, which the Western mainstream media then reports as if it was China creating conflict. . The push to ratchet down the tension comes from Joh...

THE LAW OF BOOMERANG

Image
11 February 2025 I have once again received an invitation from the Honorable Dan Fernandez of the House of Representatives of the Philippines. Since this is is a matter of public concern, I am posting my reply to his invitation. Attached is the screenshot, and below is the full text: ---- Dear Honorable Dan Fernandez: It is with great honor that I acknowledge the invitation extended to me by the Committee on Public Order and Safety, Information & Communications Technology, and Public Information. I am particularly moved by your emphasis on leveraging my "knowledge and experience with social media, with the end 𝐢𝐧 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 and digital well-being" (emphasis mine). In the spirit of promoting accountability, authenticity, and the suppression...

AS I SEE IT

Image
11 February 2025 Admin's Note  Here's one Leader with INTEGRITY AND PRINCIPLE whi knows how to shepher the flock.  AS I SEE IT. By Dale B. Coverage The best thing I ever made in the past few days was keeping my silence after making the most difficult and hardest decision in my entire public life, by not signing the 4th Impeachment Complaint last February 5, 2025 and the best thing that I ever made when the three (3) impeachment complaints that were earlier filed were still pending in the office of the House Secretary General was the consultation I made in my district with my constituents and leaders.   I did not grant interviews, or hold a press conference because I was not fighting for anyone to see my worth. I just don’t want to see my country divided and our people to suffer more as I believe in the President when he said that the impeachment will not benefit a single Filipino life.  With such decision, some are anticipating that my district will be deprived ...

IMAGINE, JUST IMAGINE

Let's see 8 February 2025   A BEAUTIFUL MEETING  Jose Alejandrino  After months of begging the White House for Bongbong Marcos to meet President Trump because Bongbong badly needs a selfie with Trump to lift his sagging popularity, the White House finally acceded to the request. When the big day arrived, Bongbong was made to wait for an hour while the US Secret Service made sure he was not high on Coke. After Bongbong was cleared of not being a terrorist, he was ushered into the Oval Office. Here is how I imagine the meeting went. With his usual smile, Bongbong started with an apology to Trump. “I’m sorry about an earlier public statement I made about not being able to support you for president because I thought you were too belligerent,” he said. “I believed Kamala Harris when she said you are a threat. I believed her because she is a dear friend and friends don’t lie to each other.” “Don’t apologize,” Trump replied. “Idiots tend to believe idiots. I have a rather busy s...

TIO MORENO

Image
7 February 2025 GOD SAVE THE PHILIPPINES Editorial: Tio Moreno The year 1986 was a time when the nation stood at the crossroads of dictatorship and democracy.  The call "Laban!” associated with Corazon Aquino's campaign “Tama na! Sobra na! Palitan na!" echoed not just as a prayer, but as a desperate plea for liberation from the clutches of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s authoritarian regime.  It was also during this tumultuous period that Juan Ponce Enrile, then Marcos’s Defense Minister, became a central figure in the unfolding drama that eventually led to the People Power Revolution. As one of Marcos’s most trusted allies, Enrile had been a key architect of Martial Law, which was declared in 1972 and had plunged the country into a dark era of repression, censorship, and human rights abuses.  Yet, by 1986, Enrile found himself at odds with the very regime he had helped build. The catalyst for his defection was the growing discontent within the military, particularly among the Re...

REVELATION

Image
6 February 2025 By Tio Moreno  VP SARA IS A REVELATION I understand that many of you are worried about VP Sara’s impeachment, especially after hearing that 215 Congress members voted in favor of it. But the truth is, this impeachment is nothing more than political noise. It’s a smokescreen—a distraction from the real issues our country is facing: the unconstitutional BiCam Report, a bankrupt PhilHealth, a food emergency, rising crime and drug problems, and more. But beyond the noise, this impeachment is a revelation. It proves that in politics, there are no permanent allies—only personal interests. It exposes modern-day Judases—those who used VP Sara to win their elections but have now turned their backs on her. It reveals how rotten the House of Representatives of the Philippines has become. It unmasks corrupt politicians who care more about the money they receive from signing the impeachment than about its consequences for the country. It exposes how they abuse the system—a syste...

SINKING SHIP

Image
From FB BBM’s sinking ship and VP Inday’s destiny It had been expected since last year, but the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte finally came like a thief in the night Wednesday morning. What President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had tried - unsuccessfully - to do, disavow any interest and involvement in the impeachment of the one who almost single-handedly carried him to victory in 2022, was finally confirmed when his eldest son, Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, top-billed the impeachment complaint. The Iglesia Ni Cristo gave BBM the benefit of the doubt when it expressed support for him in a massive anti-impeachment rally that sent shivers down the spine of the Marcos strategists. Any doubt that the VP’s impeachment will be met by massive resistance vanished into thin air.   This explains why Speaker Martin Romualdez dilly-dallied even when it was becoming obvious that the impeachment was the last card he was left holding in the game of his life to succeed hi...

CHESS GAME

Image
By Sass Roganda Sassot 6 February 2025 Foreword: From Fidel Sosa -- This impeachment is more than just an attack on VP Sara Duterte—it’s a calculated move by power-hungry politicians who fear her influence. The forces behind this are playing a dangerous game, thinking they can eliminate a formidable leader without consequences. But history has shown that when a strong leader is unjustly persecuted, it only strengthens their movement. VP Sara’s next move will be crucial, but so will ours. We, her supporters, must not sit idly by while the system is manipulated to serve the interests of a select few. The more they push for her downfall, the more they expose their desperation and fear. Let them overplay their hand. The people are watching. And when the time comes, we will remember who stood for justice and who played along with corruption. This fight is far from over!☺️💚 #Shukran === 𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐗 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐄 VP Sara is simultaneously: greatest threat, cent...
